In this Weebly, I highlight some of the great and most influential mathematicians on record. While studying many mathematicians this semester, it became evident that their discoveries are beautifully intertwined with one another. Each of these math greats are closely connected to other mathematicians (some of much less notoriety) through their ideas and collaboration. Even failures of some may have led to brilliant discoveries by others. To quote Georg Cantor, "Mathematics is entirely free in its development, and its concepts are only linked by the necessity of being consistent, and are coordinated with concepts introduced previously by means of precise definition." I hope you enjoy this journey over time, highlighting math greats from Thales (624 BC) to Conway (2014). Note: This not a comprehensive and all inclusive trip through math history.
